What is Coaching?

Coaching is:

  1. A Partnership: Recognising that each person is unique, coaches use a collaborative, thought-provoking process that accelerates the person’s personal and professional growth in a safe and creative environment.

  2. Person-Centred Approach: Builds a trusting, open, non-judgmental, dynamic relationship, and a shared commitment to help people progress and achieve their goals.

  3. Unlocking Inner Solutions: Coaches guide people they work with to discover solutions that are held deep within them through presence, powerful questioning, and deep listening. This enhances self-awareness as the person uncovers the patterns of thought, beliefs and emotions that are holding them back. This supports the person to develop value-driven and intuitive problem-solving.

  4. Present and Future-Focused Goal-oriented: Helps people who are the experts in their own lives, set realistic goals and develop strategies for success, fostering confidence, clarity, and courage to transform and achieve their full potential.

  5. Overcoming Barriers: Supports people in addressing and moving past their resistance, confusion, and stress from past experiences, facilitating their transformation over time.

  6. Ethical and Accountable: Maintains high ethical standards and accountability, encouraging people they work with to reflect on and advance towards achieving their goals.

Coaching is not:

  1. Counselling, psychotherapy, or any other kind of therapy.
  2. Coaching does not diagnose or treat people who present with mental or any other health disorders.
  3. An advisory service.
